Description

Hill's Cat Urinary Stress+ Metabolism c/d Chicken 1.5 kg helps reduce the recurrence of the most common urinary signs and reduce your cat's weight.

These kibbles are a complete dietary food designed to reduce the recurrence of struvite stones (a cause of feline lower urinary tract disease), dissolve struvite stones, reduce the formation of oxalate stones and reduce excess weight in adult cats.

This food has a low energy density, urine undersaturation properties for struvite, urine alkalinization properties and a low magnesium, calcium and vitamin D content.

Directions for use

It is advisable to seek veterinary advice before use.
Feed only this food.

Start by feeding the daily amount indicated for your cat's weight.
For effective weight loss, the recommended daily energy intake must not be exceeded.
A transition period is recommended at the start of the diet.

For weight loss: Determine food intake based on target weight rather than current weight.
For weight maintenance: The patient should be monitored to ensure that optimal weight is maintained, by increasing feed quantities as appropriate.
Adjust the daily amount and number of meals according to the veterinarian's advice.

Recommended duration of use:
- Dissolution of struvite calculi: 5 to 12 weeks.
- Reduction of struvite stone recurrence: initially up to 6 months.
- Reduction of oxalate stone formation: up to 6 months.
- Weight loss: until target weight is reached and thereafter, if necessary to maintain target weight.

Leave fresh water available at all times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good quality food that does help manage FIC My cat has FIC and has had two scary episodes of retention where needed emergency vet admission and catheterising. He’s an older cat, an ex-stray and a big tom (neutered when rescued). Apparently they are more prone to this disease, which I did not know. We moved him on to the Hills Urinary products after the first episode, last June. He is a fussy eater and was beginning to leave the food so I was mixing the prescription diet with different good quality cat food. A mistake I won’t make again as he went into retention again last November. I’ve had to trial different products of this range to find something he will consistently eat and he has been reliably wolfing this kibble since December. He prefers the metabolic to the one that isn’t metabolic- no idea why but when the food is expensive and necessary them routinely eating it is important! I also give supplements for FIC in addition to the diet, that’s my choice but I believe that this food is a very reliable method of managing FIC and must be very palatable as after he realised he would consistently get food from us he started to pick and choose! This alongside the stewed tinned version of the same range are eaten every day and no signs of any urinary trouble since last November. You do need to shop around the suppliers as prices can really vary.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lifesaver! After a particularly nasty bout of FIC we decided to switch our cat's diet permanently and it's worked wonders. There was no trouble with switching the dry food as it's very palatable and if anything I'd say he prefers it to his old food. Having always been a dry-food-only cat it took well over a week to get him eating the Metabolic + Urinary Stress wet food but now he's eating about half a pouch day (alongside the dry complete food) which is great progress. His litter tray, water fountain (a must if you want your cat to drink more!) and food are all in separate rooms. In the summer we have the doors to the garden open and sometimes our neighbour's cat sneaks in attempting to steal our cat's food so we now have a microchip pet bowl. This has been a great addition as it protects his food from any other cats and we can monitor exactly how much he's eating. I also recommend Feliway diffusers as these are proven to reduce stress which is a key factor with Feline Idiopathic Cystitis. This Hills food contains tryptophan the key ingredient in Cystease (or MiPet Cat Ease) and milk protein hydrolysate (the key ingredient in Zylkene) both fantastic calming ingredients for cats and means you're not having to buy further medication on top of your pet's food. Plus you're not having the stress or hassle of having to make sure your pet has medication every day. Fantastic product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This did the trick! Our cat was always a very fussy eater, very sensitive to any disturbance, easily pushed off his food by his bigger brother, and suffered frequent episodes of cystitis. About the only food he was interested in was dry crunchies - and he very rarely drank any water. We tried Hill's urinary care wet pouch food first, but he really wasn't interested. Then we tried the dry food and he really likes that - he's not distracted from it, and holds his own against his brother. But it's expensive, and it would be great if there was another flavour.
